Big Game

Author(s): Dan Smith

Teen Fiction

13-year-old Oskari is sent into the cold wilderness on an ancient test of manhood. He must survive armed only with a bow and arrow. But instead, he stumbles upon an escape pod from a burning airliner: Air Force One. Terrorists have shot down the President of the United States. The boy hunter and the world's most powerful man are suddenly the hunted, in a race against a deadly enemy.

Kathleen's review - Dan Smith has taken a Finnish film script and made this novel adaptation.

Oskari doesn't expect to come back with his first kill because he's small and he can't pull the string back far enough to fire it. It's all going to be a total disaster, he'll be even more of a laughing stock than he is, and he'll never be able to make his father proud.

But on his way to the hunting grounds plane crashes and his life changes just like that!

Great pace, loads of excitement, and a terrific story about finding oneself.
